To any energy strategist that has ever tried to find petroleum supply & demand data going back as far as possible, you have probably hit a dead end.
Or at least I have.
Global demand data prior to 1965, the year in which BP data begins, is hard to find.
Until now.
In 1946, The National Industrial Conference Board published a book that is a marvelous compilation of data and named it “The Petroleum Almanac.”
For the longest time, I tried to get a copy.
I finally found a reprint and had it shipped from India of all places.
Located in the book is the one missing piece of data - Non-U.S. or Foreign Demand for Petroleum and Products.
And with that, I have been able to create this lovely chart.
