I fully admit that I do not know everything about the oil & gas industry.

In fact, the more histories I do and the more people I meet along the way, the more I start to feel like Jon Snow in Game of Thrones.

And one of those topics is the history of the Canadian oil & gas industry.

It’s important to me because Canadian subscribers are my second biggest.

So it is with this history that I start to add Canadian oil companies to my databases.

And no better place to start than with what many consider the first one, Imperial Oil.

I welcome any corrections, edits, and/or other constructive feedback. Help an oil historian out yo!

There is a bull case to be made for Canadian Oils.

They have a lot more inventory on the books - more than their shale peers in the States.

Imperial ended 2022 with a reserve life index (RLI) or R/P ratio of just over 17 years.
